For a long time, Swedish cuisine was easily overshadowed by its neighboring cuisines such as Nordic and Danish foods, until recently when Swedish meatballs returned to the dining tables. Well if you go by the books Swedish meatballs first appeared in the 17th century and were served only in festivities and religious ceremonies.
Swedish meatballs are usually prepared from a blend of beef-pork, lamb, reindeer, wild boar, moose, turkey, and even chicken.
In the Swedish language, these meatballs are called Kottbullar.
